Class Information

To take this class you should have a firm understanding of all the basic concepts of my teachings. you should have taken an advanced level class or multiple level one classes, If you are interested and not sure you meet the requirements please email me with the workshops you have taken from me and I will let you know if you can take this workshop.

- The studio work area is aprox 1300 sqft, so plenty of space and individual attention. It doesn't get much better than this as we will be in my actual studio with all my supplies, artwork and things pretty much exactly as I like them.

-Friday the 20th at 6:30pm, after the second day of class we will have a pizza dinner and drinks, my treat at Baby Doll Pizza just a few block from the studio. You may bring your partner or a friend to join us. This will give us all a chance to meet and get loose. There is Vegan and Gluten Free pizza available.

-There is a whole foods one block down the road from my studio and an abundance of restaurants, food carts, and local fare walking distance from the studio. There is a fridge at the studio to store food as well.

Supplies List

Blick paint, brushes, black pencils, oil pastels, and painting surfaces will be supplied by me.

Please bring up to 3 started pieces or finished pieces you are unhappy with so we can move forward from a base rather that starting from scratch this will give us far more time to explore engage and ask questions about our pieces and our purpose.

Please try to only bring what you need. I want everyone to have as much space as they need and extra materials tend to crowd the space.

Class Description

To take this class you should have a firm understanding of all the basic concepts of my teachings. you should have taken an advanced level class or multiple level one classes, If you are interested and not sure you meet the requirements please email me with the workshops you have taken from me and I will let you know if you can take this workshop.

In this advanced level workshop I will be focusing on a further expansion of my ideas and concepts. Moving further from the idea of the outcome and more to the moment. We will be experimenting more with the ideas of abstraction, deconstruction, changing directions in terms of form and composition so we can learn more about knowing something good when we see it. We can learn far more by being lost and keeping ourselves from our preoccupation of outcome this way. I will be telling and showing how to truly let a story unfold and tell itself to us rather then us telling the story. Experimenting using shape and size elements to fracture divide and reshape our forms. Connecting disconnected ideas to find meaning rather then creating a meaning to be followed out.

We will also focusing on lessons that teach us expressive ways of mark making drawing and interpreting referenced imagery. In this class there will be an emphasis on com-positional moves in terms of shapes and colors forcing us to pull our imagery apart as well as move them forward from the core of what makes visual art pleasing. Such as color composition, size elements and unpredictable outcomes. Remembering to be truly expressed the artist must experience there work in ways that it reflects its energy to the viewer.. this is what we are shooting for a true engagement of expression that forces us to ask questions to find a story rather than tell one.

Please remember that students are encouraged to bring pieces to class that are unfinished or finished in unsatisfying so we can work with them to move further into the process. At the very least bring in 3 pieces that are started so we can move forward from a base rather that starting from scratch. This will give us far more time to explore engage and ask questions about our pieces and our purpose..

Let me know if you have any questions, or want to sign up. Thanks for your support!
