Class Description

This three day class is setup to engage in the process for all three days, and really exploring the techniques and principles of what I do..

This class will focus on techniques and ideas for creating freely.. learning to see and follow rather than starting with a strict idea. You will learn that some loose thinking and random actions coupled with basic color and compositional concepts can almost create on there own. The idea of just doing and looking, rather than stressing over getting started.

It is best to learn my technique over the course of a few days as there are alot of sides, ideas, and techniques within it. It is very important to have time to digest the ideas and think about what you see as well as get a break from looking and thinking to see what is really there when you look again the next day. It takes about a day just to learn the techniques to build up a proper ground to pull from, and understand the simplicity and complexity of it.. you need to search and find something.. then it comes time to identify it, pull it out. That's day two, and if you're lucky then paint over alot of it and start building again.. Day 3 is usually the breakthrough at which point your really start to put it all together and experience the process rather than chase it.

We do different exercises to engage the techniques including – finger painting, wrong hand, blind, clench fist, scraping, free movement, 3 times fast. There are plenty of demos, a lot of start and stop in the begining to be sure we are all on track, lecture,of course ill answer any questions and critiques daily and throughout the day.

It takes me a week to finish paintings usually, so 3 days is a real hustle to finish a piece. You may or may not finish a painting, but you will learn a ton of techniques and concepts to inspire and expand your creativity. This class is not a step by step lesson with a clear path. It's a lot of personal push with really basic rules and tons of freedom. I give it my all and show and tell as much as possible, but the rest is up to the students to push themselves. The harder you push, and trust me, the further you'll get.. even if it seems backwards. As I've learned the long way is the short cut.. :)

Inspiration comes from purpose
The meaning of life itself
Use your potential to become a magician
You can buy a wand, but you cant by the magic
Learn to value your persuit
As the outcome is uncontrollable
Feral is the future

1/4" flat
1.5" flat

Clear Coat
I seal everything with a clear coat of poly-gloss medium. I use a foam roller to apply the medium which keeps anything from smearing and seals all the materials to keep anything from smudging.. Polymer Gloss Medium - product# 00711-1026

5 surfaces to paint on. At least one should be 100lb. bristol paper. They can all be bristol paper, or you can use wood or masonite. I don't recommed canvas. Each surfaces should be between 16x20 and 24x24 inches. Anything smaller and it will be hard to use the techniques properly. Anything larger and we won't have enough room as a class to work.. :)

Big black pencil - I will supply this as they are hard to find.. :)

Feel free to email with questions. :)
