This CD is a live improvisational performance of sounds i created using a variety of instruments including - guitar, acoustic drums, bass, record player, analog synthesizers and other sounds Ive collected. i perform, record, produce and engineer an initial studio recording of each song. from these recording i then sample pieces and clips from the tracks that make up the studio tracks. i input them into a hardware performance sampler which allows me to manipulate and trigger each individual sample live.
all my performances are improvisational following the moment rather than a predefined script or plan. all though i know the sounds i have to use for each song, how i use them changes each time i perform. the music is made electronically and with loops that repeat forcing it to have a bit of stiffness. i search for the lump in the loop to keep things alive. like a drummer struggling to keep the beat together - that's me Ive been playing drums for about a year off and on.. i don't want to get good.. im looking to push the line of live music captured by electronics to form a sloppy, collision, letting the random timings of loops not synchronized find there own tempo.
this recording is a combination of two practice sessions i had 4 days before playing this same set live for the first time as accompaniment for my art exhibition entitled - EVERYTHING - the exhibition included paintings, drawings, photography and a live musical performance
