Entirely self-taught, Reno decided early in his career to forego formal training, opting to develop his individualistic style through a prolific and exuberant output of creation. His materials range from acrylic paint and oil pastels to colored pencils laid primarily over wood panel and canvas. He generally works on five to ten canvases at once, apportioning equal time to each, in the interest of allowing the thematic content to germinate organically. Open as the artist is to the unfolding of subconscious content, his paintings emerge as pieces of a dreamlike mythic narrative. Reno has recently begun teaching his organic methods at art retreats, including Art & Soul Retreat this October, 2010 and next year.

I will have two pieces in this show coming up on September 2nd in New York, it’s for a great cause.

Most of the pieces in the show are between $50-$250, check it out.

I edited down the full length stop motion video of the 3 live paintings to follow a single painting, “Like and Love” from start to finish.

Just wanted to share some of the steps the mural at Local35 has gone through in the last three 4-5 hour days.

In the end I plan to have a small video highlighting the progress.

For now here is a preview, thanks to everyone who dropped by to check it out and say hey.

ill be repainting the mural on the side window of local35 (35th place and hawthorne) sunday august 15th noon till 6pm..  ill also be selling copies of my newest book, framed prints, small paintings, and drawings.. inside the store ill have some brand new large works on display and my new stop animation painting video will be playing on a bigscreen.. sh0uld be a super fun time, im down to connect and meet whoever shows up so come on down..
