Portland Monster Drawing Rally III

Wednesday, July 5th, 2017

I will be one of the artists participating in this event…
July 14, 2017 @ 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm

The Monster Drawing Rally returns for a third year of drawing under the summer stars! A drawing event and fundraiser featuring more than 75 Portland-based artists, Monster Drawing Rally is part performance, part laboratory, part art bazaar—an incredible opportunity to watch some of your favorite Portland artists create original drawings from a blank page. The event begins promptly at 6 p.m. in the Museum’s courtyard and consists of three one-hour rounds that each feature approximately 25 different artists drawing simultaneously. As the drawings are completed, they are immediately hung up and made available for a flat price of $35 each. If more than one person wants to purchase a particular work, the winner will be determined by drawing straws. Proceeds support free school and youth programs at the Museum. The Monster Drawing Rally provides a unique opportunity to watch a drawing come to life, and to purchase a work of art minutes after its completion.

Bring the Family!
The Museum will also feature the Li’l Monster Drawing Rally, a section where children and families may sit, draw, and display their work for the evening.

Opening reception JULY 15th at the bG Gallery from 6 – 9 pm.

The World’s Most Adorable Art Critic, Daniel Rolnik, has curated a group art show dedicated to food.

“The Food Show” includes the following 50 artists: Adam Roth, Alden Marin, Alex Chiu, Annabel Osberg, Big Tasty, Bill Miller, Bradford J Salamon, Charlotte Goff, Daniel Edwards, Dave Kloc, Dave Quick, David Buckingham, David Friedman, Douglas Alvarez, Eva Lacey, Hilary Pfeifer, Jake Weigel, Jamie Polancic, Jermaine Rogers, Jesse Reno, John Kilduff, Joseph Remnant, JoshR, Justin Decou, Kat Philbin, KROSSD, L.A. GOAL, Laura Atchinson, LITTLE FRIENDS OF PRINTMAKING, Mark Hanauer, Mary Delioussina, Mayon Hanania, Melissa Monroe, Mike Boston, Mike Egan, Miles Lewis, Nancy Larrew, Noah Malloy, Dr. Paul Koudounaris, PooJazzle, Porous Walker, Robert Branaman, Rodman Edwards, Sarah Stone, Shaun Berke, Steven Snyder, Terri Berman, Trace Mendoza, Travis Millard, Tripper Dungan, XVALA, and Zachary Aronson.

“I feel blessed to be able to work with artists of all ages, genders, religions and races. This exhibit is truly an unprecedented egalitarian art experience.” says curator, Daniel Rolnik. “It’s truly breathtaking!”

All of the artists in this show were chosen because of the light-bearing and healing qualities that emit from their work. Though, invisible to the naked eye, Daniel has become adept at recognizing these subconscious actions through careful observations made at his dinner parties. The food and acts of eating depicted in the paintings, sculptures, tapestries and more are containers from which good vibes will travel and ultimately make their way through the digestive system of guests to the exhibit.

Please email me at jesse@jessereno.com to check availability and setup time/ date for critique, let me know weather you prefer Skype or phone both are done audio only to avoid visual distractions and so we can focus on the conveying information and knowledge.
Once we have scheduled I will have you send 3 pieces and 3 questions so I can review prior to our session so we can use our time most efficiently.

Solo Show March – Portland’5 Centers for the Arts

Monday, February 20th, 2017

Just Beyond The Mountain

my latest works deal with the idea of fragments and the connection. feeling rather than knowing. choosing instinct over logic to achieve desire rather than defined outcomes. the chaos of volcanoes, the collapse of an avalanche, the weight of an anchor. the idea of buoyancy over balance. some locks do not open with keys. this is a world where candy canes grow at the tops of mountains. freedom comes from belief and choice, and all things are connected.

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2017

who wants to come paint and mexico? still a few spots left. learn about my techniques and ideas about finding yourself within your work. find purpose and understanding in your work by following feelings rather than logic to arrive at imagery that is personal and hidden in abstraction waiting to be found. become engaged in your process by finding techniques that reveal forms and imagery rather than struggling with perfection.. this 5 day workshop takes place at hacienda mosaico in puerta vallarta mexico. the grounds are amazing a perfect place to forget the rest of the world and dig deep into your creative process. all skill levels welcome.
